FAQ

  • What is Obstructive Sleep Apnea?

Obstructive Sleep Apnea is the most common form of sleep apnea and is caused by an obstruction in the upper airway. This obstruction is commonly caused by muscle relaxation in the throat or narrow or blocked airway.

  • What is the Difference between CPAP, APAP, and BiPAP?

CPAP – Continuous Positive Airway Pressure – Single fixed pressure for a continuous pressure flow.
APAP – Auto-Titrating Positive Airway Pressure – This device is set within a range of pressure (usually 4-20 cm H2O) and monitors changes in breathing, then automatically adjusts pressure to compensate for the pauses in breath.
BiPAP – Bi-Level Positive Airway Pressure – The device has two fixed pressures, one for inhalation, one for exhalation

  • Do you require a prescription?

A prescription is required for the purchase of all machines, full masks and humidifiers. We will be happy to work with your physician to get the prescription

  • Are there any masks that do NOT require a prescription?

All masks billed through insurance, require a prescription. However, if you are buying supplies with a credit card, here is a listing of supplies that do not require prescription:

CPAP Masks without Headgear: Includes everything except Headgear Straps
CPAP Mask Parts: Cushions, Headgear, Accessories
CPAP Machine Parts: CPAP Hose/Tubing, Filters, Water Chambers, Parts, etc.
Comfort Items: Tube Covers, Moisturizers, Comfort Pads, etc.

A prescription is required for the purchase of all machines, complete mask systems and humidifiers.

  • Why should I get my supplies from CPAPHomeDelivery?

We are a nationwide mail order supplier of home delivered CPAP supplies to patients across the United States. Our company, Specialty Medical Equipment, is contracted and accredited by CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services), and licensed in all states where we ship. We provide excellent customer service and have a 4.9 rating on Google.

  • How long does it take to get my supplies?

Once you complete our form or call our toll-free number, a member of our staff will contact you. You will learn the details of our home delivery program and must provide the information required to get the order started in our system.

Before you contact us, make sure you have your demographic, insurance and physician information available. If you are already on a PAP device, it is important you let us know the name and model of the machine, as well as the type of mask you are presently using.

  • How often can I get new supplies?

Generally, most insurance companies provide coverage for replacement supplies every 90 days. Manufacturers recommend patients clean and disinfect supplies using a soap and water solution to rinse any bacteria from within the mask and tubing.

Our company would enroll you in our EZ resupply program and our outreach department would contact you for new supplies every 75 days (to ensure you receive your supplies before the 90th day). We also offer convenient reorder options via our phone system and text message.

  • How can I clean and care for my CPAP and Supplies

To optimize the mask seal, clean your mask to remove facial oils. Hand wash mask in warm water using mild soap. Rinse all components and allow to air-dry out of direct sunlight. Headgear can also be hand-washed in warm water using mild detergent; rinse well and allow to air dry.

  • What is the typical replacement guide for machines and supplies?

    CPAP Mask - 1 every 90 days
CPAP Mask Cushion - 1 every 30 days
CPAP Nasal Pillows - 2 pairs every 30 days
    Tubing - 1 every 90 days
    Headgear - 1 every 180 days
    Non-disposable filters - 2 every 180 days
    Disposable filters - 2 every 30 days
Mask Chin Strap – 1 every 180 days
    Humidity Chamber – 1 every 180 days
CPAP – in most cases every 3-5 years, or as necessary
